Wireless Projects
The tiles below outline various projects the wireless team is or has been involved with. Some projects are currently active and others may be complete. Other projects may be in early conception or design phases that we hope to implement soon. Click on any of the tiles for more information about a specific project.
Summer 2024 Housing Wireless Upgrades
Status: Completed
This project involved upgrading 779 APs (access points) across 15 buildings. These new access points are Wi-Fi 6 compatible which brings faster speeds, increased capacity, and improved power efficiency.
Summer 2022 Wireless Upgrades
Status: Design and Planning Phase (Active)
More than 300 wireless access points on campus will be upgraded to newer an d better performing models. We will also add APs to address coverage gaps.
Anschutz Engineering Center
Status: Completed
A 24,000 SF annex will be added to the existing Engineering and Applied Science Building. The wireless team will design the new wireless networks to be installed during construction.
Cybersecurity Building
Status: Completed
The Cybersecurity Building at 3650 North Nevada Ave will be home to a state-of-the-art facility for UCCS programs and other partnerships.
University Center Career Center and Gameroom
Status: Completed
The existing lounge and meeting rooms in the UC are being remodeled and will become home to the new Career Center and a new, redesigned game room.
Downtown Expansion
Status: Design Phase (On Hold)
The UCCS Downtown space will be expanding, and with that will come new wireless access points.
HYBL Sports Medicine and Performance Center
Status: Completed
The wireless team installed 51 indoor wireless access points, in addition to 7 outdoor wireless access points.
Outdoor Wireless Phase 2
Status: Conception Phase
With the success of Phase 1 of our outdoor wireless project, we are beginning early conception and initiation talks regarding a Phase 2 to increase outdoor coverage.
Outdoor Wireless Phase 1
Status: Completed
Installed 40 new outdoor access points along the pedestrian spine between the Rec Center and Cragmor Hall. Also increased coverage on West Lawn, Cragmor Green, and Telluride Quad.
eduroam
UCCS has joined the eduroam community, and the eduroam wireless network is now available and live at UCCS. This also means that UCCS faculty/staff/students can utilize the eduroam network for free internet access when they visit other participating institutes.
